How much is it to apply for a BEMCC card?

The cost is $45.00 U.S. dollars per year per person.

Am I allowed to renew once my membership card expires?

Yes, and we will remind you to renew once your membership card expires.

Myself and two family members are traveling with me to Mexico, will they be covered by my BEMCC card?

No. The card is for single person use only, your companions need to purchase the membership card separately.

Is there a group discount?

Yes, please call our office at 619-425-5080 for details.

Is BEMCC an insurance company?

No. BEMCC will arrange and coordinate your transport in a medical emergency.
We will be with you during the whole transport from beginning to end. We will not only contact essential personnel such as family members, admitting hospital, doctors, ambulance companies, first responders, etc., but also make sure that you are in constant contact during the entire transport. BEMCC has been doing this for over 30 years and has an extremely high success rate. Read our testimonials.

Why do you need my Date of Birth (DOB) and my social security number (SSN)?

In case you are involved in an accident in Mexico, the first thing we need to have is your date of birth and your social security number to give to the receiving hospital in the United States, otherwise your transport could be delayed if we don’t have that information.

Can I give you my medical policy number instead?

Yes, if you don’t want to give your Social Security number, we at least need your policy number in order to arrange for your transport to a U.S. hospital.

What should I do if I need your help in Mexico?

You need to go to the closest medical facility and have someone give us a call to let us know where you are. We need to have the name of the city or town, telephone number of the medical facility or a phone contact to call and find out your medical condition and arrange for your safe transport to the United States. GPS coordinates will be needed if you are in a remote area.

What happens if I am at sea?

We need your GPS coordinates, name and type of boat or ship, and type of injuries.  If you are using a roaming cell phone, you can get your coordinates here

We will then contact the U.S. and Mexican Coast Guard to give them your position. From the moment we receive your call, we will keep in contact with the Coast Guard to find out if they are going to take you to the nearest port, so that we may have an ambulance available, or if the U.S. Coast Guard is going to transport you back into the U.S. We need to notify your relatives of your whereabouts.

What if I am severely injured in a remote area such as the desert or the mountains?

We will need to know your GPS coordinates so that we may send a search and rescue team to find you and bring you back safely. We need to know the type of injuries you may have and if someone is with you. Be prepared and be visible from the air.

What other benefits do I receive with a membership card?

You will also receive a discount on Mexican car insurance, upcoming quarterly newsletters, travel tips and referrals to hotels and events such as the Rosarito to Ensenada bicycle ride, etc.
